So basically I was disappointed that I had to go on Thursday because Kaung Myat, Daryl and Adrian were going on Wednesday. In any case though, I had to attend my Math Olympiad class on Wednesday instead of Saturday or I would have gone that day, but unfortunately Dr Chua was not free on both Saturdays of the September holidays so we had to have lessons on weekdays instead
Anyway. What happened on that day. So I went really late (I know it’s early but to me all times are late) But yeah man I was in luck, because I saw IAN and BYORN!!! So my waiting wasn’t too bad, except Ian kept trying to gay I dunno why. (now I keep on trying to gay him I dunno why either). So later we were spilt up into groups when the student leaders, like damn xian cannot be with Ian or Byorn. Actually my group still ok la, ur will learn later…
So yea. Time to go for the activities that were destined to take up about eight hours of our time. Our group leader was Eliza and a Year 5 (I dun bother to learn her name).Quite obviously we HAD to start the day with an icebreaker activity, and we HAD to learn each other’s names. I think my group members were…er… Hong Jing (106), Chester (?), Wei Hao (101), Ryan (?) (super short Year 3 ur will learn that that was really not a good thing to be), Fiona (105), Shi Ni(103), Wan Qi (107). I remember got another Year 4 and a Year 3 and maybe 2 more ppl but I’m so lazy I dun bother ZZZ…
What happened after that I leave to some other time I think…

The above problems, being problems in Singapore, would not actually be common problems with ELDCs. However, out of the three problems, I think that urban sprawl would be a great problem in many ELDCs, as in the 21st century, many ELDCs want to catch up with EMDCs in terms of economic growth. One of the only ways that they are able to achieve that would be to build many factories, and thus giving rise to air pollution through smoke stacks. This, in turn would cause a serious problem of urban sprawl, as factories increase rapidly at the cost of once lush land that could have been used for agriculture. When the factories have been built though, not many will protest at the loss of farming land as they will get new jobs provided by the factories, which becomes the main providence of income for the country. By then, the people of these ELDCs will only be concerned about the cash rolling into their pockets and not the environment. It would be hard to change the mindsets of these people. Public infrastructure would also be a problem, as the governments of most countries are unable to plan their cities, well, mostly due to the fact that many other countries are much larger than Singapore, and therefore are unable to put in place the proper road or housing developments. This would result in severe overcrowding of streets in some areas and near-emptiness in others. The problems I have mentioned would be due to bad governance, as in the case of urban sprawl, it is probably the government who were the first to suggest the building of the factories and then the smokestacks. It would also be the government who has put up propaganda to spread the advantages about the factories and hiding many disadvantages from the citizens. Those among the civilians who complain would probably be shut up by the overwhelming majority who objects their views, because of the government. The second issue would be all the more a problem caused by bad governance. In the case of a larger country than Singapore, especially an ELDC, where there is very little money and planning devoted to building proper roads and buildings, and therefore, when the civilians have to resort to erect their own housing and dirt roads, it results in the overuse of dirt roads and underuse of the roads built by the government, usually because the proper asphalt roads are virtually inaccessible to the civilians’ houses that they have built themselves. All the abovementioned problems are currently being experienced by Singapore, who is probably hardest hit nowadays by the first one, as food prices, along with almost everything else, are going through a period of serious inflation as the world’s oil sources deplete slowly but surely, due to the ever-increasing demand for more energy by the world. In the near future, as our population increases, unfortunately, we will probably face a daunting task in overcoming these problems. As we know, more people would need more food and water, more jobs and would probably use more cars and take up more space, exacerbating all three problems of self sustainability, urban sprawl and even public infrastructure. Singapore’s once near-perfect planning might not stand the test of time…
Crap I only have like 540+ words i need 60 more words man...why must the word limit be so long... I blame Ms Chen...
All of a sudden, all fell quiet. At first I could not believe it. The enemy could not have given up so easily. They were, we were told, a battle-hardened lot, born and bred in the extremely harsh conditions of heir world, where only the fittest could survive.
It was, in fact, the Year 2987. Fights had broken out all over the galaxy. Two different factions, the Kravens and the Tudors, had launched an all out war against each other. With two extremely conflicting ideals, politicians from both sides had broken apart and declared a fight to the finish. Of course, their ideas were attractive to many, thus both factions drew hordes of supporters. The Kraven naturalist ideal, where everyone should take what they can and destroy the weak, attracted the powerhouses of the galaxy, while the Tudor ideal of having a community where everyone was equal, drawing the more fair-minded ones.
A paper war, a war of words and thoughts ensued. The more peaceful ones hoped the matter could be resolved then, and have the petty quarrel broken up through simple communication. However, this was not to be. The politicians and more fanatic supporters simply could not agree on terms favourable to each other. Thus, the talks soon broke down and the factions decided to settle matters once and for all through the last option available: war!
That was the story of how I came to be here. Earth, with its community of humans, was attracted to the Tudor ideal; we had to be dependant on others for natural resources ever since we exhausted our own in Year 2543. Years of cruel and tyrannical treatment over this matter had left us bitter, but we envisioned a much better life under the Tudors, where everyone would be equal, where we would be bullied no more and forced to pay higher and higher prices for oil and fuel. Unfortunately, the citizens of Venus, the planet closest us, thought otherwise. With some of the toughest beings in the Solar System, they saw no reason to end their tyrannical rule, thus the war between us. I vowed to fight to the death for Earth.
I edged nearer to the mini battle station gingerly; I could not be sure of the vanquishment of the enemy troops in there. Though we had kept it under furious assault with our bionic battle bots the entire past week, the battle station held out. Thus, we had no choice but to send in our most efficient crack troop. I had been ordered to kill any enemy troop coming out through the only escape route: the station’s main door.
An enormous explosion came from the other side of the door out of the blue. A concussion grenade, I thought, the most forceful mini-weapon on Earth. Whoever was coming out, he was dangerous. I jumped away from the door so violently that I stumbled and fell, and I was on my knees with the revolver scratching uselessly at my feet when he came out. Through the dust, I saw the Venusian: eight feet tall, with a huge muscular–looking body, he was probably the toughest of his kind. However, as the smoke cleared, I saw a much more intimidating sight. A fully armoured being he was, gold and crimson plates glinting in the sun He reached out his hand, and I thought he would smite me. To my surprise, he actually helped me up.
“Your kind has evolved to be an opponent worthy of us, much better than the weaklings a few centuries back. I am the only one remaining of my squadron. So are you. This battle shall be Earth and Venus’s last. Kraven and Tudor ideals can never come together.” He paused then continued, “We shall fight with battleaxes and with no armour. Accept my challenge or with my last powers I will crush you with a lightning bolt. Win, and my planet is yours for the taking. Lose, and we shall eradicate your forces on Earth.” All his plates were removed as he activated a switch. I had no choice but to remove my armour too. Hefting up the weapons, both of us prepared for the final, most climatic clash.
He charged at me almost immediately, and I swiftly jumped away, landing rather clumsily behind him. Taking my chance, I swung the axe for a killing blow. However, his reactions were incredible. Whirling around, he blocked the strike so swiftly that I was knocked off my feet. Landing some metres away, I almost blacked out. Still, I recovered quickly enough to defend myself from his second charge. Glaring at me with hatred in his eyes, he broke from the deadlock, swung the axe at my feet in a deadly arc but I leapt up high and evaded the weapon. Then, I launched myself towards him with deadly might, but he hit back my axe with almost the same powerful force. I was struck off balance once again.
I realized I was tiring out. He, on the other hand, was still ready for many more bouts. He was coming for me again. I was sure, and I knew, that I could not block such a blow again. With desperation, I flung the axe towards my foe. The killing force of that throw was incredible. The axe swung through the air swung through the air with deadly force and shocking precision. If I had not seen it for myself, even I would not have believed it. The battleaxe, at the end of its launch, had plunged itself deep into the heart of my enemy. Before I fainted from exhaustion, I saw him fall, and with it the Kraven ideas of his people. I won the fight and with it, the Earth-Venus war.
I know it's corny but still...

Now that that's over, maybe i'll have a recount of what i saw...
4 by 100-girls
So, i was like, WTH how come we gt 1st lane. Super-demoralizing to run there, not to mention it is extra-hard to run into other lanes. So, like, Nikki didn't run her full speed (i think) but, well I couldn't see what happened after that, but I could see Candice and Ji Hyun overtaking ppl.
Better than the boys, anyway...

No need to state the obvious that I suck. Actually, not that i sucked REAL BAD, but that Chee Seng had, I think, legs the same length but twice my striding pace. Where was the rule that tall people have a longer stride? Obviously, once he overtook me, we got owned so bad, cos i only overtook one other person after 2 ppl overtook me. Anyway, (sorry Daryl) I think we seriously screwed up beween the 2nd and third lap, cos I think Daryl slowed down when passing to Zhi-en. But the last two runners were like, OMG they managed to shave like half our disadvantage. YX and ZE too pro...
